Training in any of the CAP curricula is arranged through ICAP’s host agency.
Their consulting fees are as follows:
- Per Diem rate: $ 650 per trainer
- Transportation costs, lodging, and food (airline, car rental, train)
- Registration fee: $ 75 per participant.
This covers manuals and additional handout materials. - All these fees are the responsibility of the local CAP project and are paid to ICAP.
Prior to the scheduled training date, a consulting contract is generated in order to secure the date and trainers. In the event of a cancellation, any expenses incurred by ICAP (such as airline reservation or materials fees) will be reimbursed by the local CAP project.
Duration of the Kindergarten – 6th Grade Training:
Trainings in the most popular curriculum (kindergarten – 6th grade) are scheduled for four days, with the first three attended by all participants, and the final day reserved for those who will be responsible for the administration of the program. During the course of the four days, ICAP trainers make themselves available for media interviews, dinner with possible funders or a variety of scheduled activities which might encourage growth and visibility of the local project. These events are scheduled by the local CAP coordinator so they do not interfere with the 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. training sessions.
An ICAP training is very intense and highly educational. In their evaluations, many people have said it is one of the best trainings they have ever had. By the end of the four day period, groups become very close, not only in their purpose, but from the experiences they share during the training. At the conclusion of the seminar, participants (referred to as facilitators) will need additional training provided by the local CAP coordinator, and will meet several times for rehearsal and discussion prior to implementing the program in the schools. ICAP offers the coordinator information and resources on the additional training needed.
