Do you Possess the Vision?
To begin with, you should look at the following areas to assess whether you or someone in your existing organization possess the vision and fortitude needed to accomplish the development and administration of this prevention project. After reviewing the criteria, if you still wish to pursue this project please contact our offices at ICAP by email or by phone.
Once you have contacted ICAP, we will work closely with one or two individuals from a core group who will spearhead the initiative. For approximately six months to a year, the coordinators are encouraged to prepare their project by garnering local support, advertising for project facilitators and in cases where there is no pre-existing organization, setting up a corporation (depending on the country; charity group, non-profit, etc).
The Process:
The designated project coordinator with ICAP will plan the dates for the facilitator training. The facilitator training acts as the “kick off” to the beginning of the project. In this training, ICAP will train a core facilitator group over three days and provide an additional day for administrative setup. The local project coordinator follows-up with rehearsal and review until the group is confident to start workshops in the local schools and community groups. The elementary model of CAP© is recommended for projects to start with because the majority of children are school aged. The other ICAP curricula: Preschool, Teen, and Special Needs can follow based on the projects interests and needs. Regional Training Centers (RTC) have been designated in areas where CAP has expanded. RTC’s under the auspices of ICAP, may train any new projects in their training region. Also, projects are able to attend the annual Training for Trainers in the state of New Jersey where ICAP resides. All certified CAP projects must sign contracts with ICAP and provide signed Memorandums of Understandings for all project facilitators to ICAP to ensure program quality and fidelity to the CAP philosophy.
Four Areas of Focus:
